GMB’s Susanna Reid has ‘chills’ as Coronation Street details stalker hell

Corrie actress Nicola Thorp on the moment her stalker was arrested

Good Morning Britain’s Susanna Reid was left speechless when speaking to former soap star Nicola Thorp about her stalking ordeal four years ago.

The Coronation Street star revealed the police had shown her an image of somebody they had in custody last year but she wasn’t given any other information.

Nicola explained: “It was for about seven months that I knew nothing about him whatsoever.

“He initially had stalked me over the course of two years, it took me a while to realise that all of these incidents were him.”

Nicola revealed the individual, Ravinderjit Dhillon, created 25 different profiles of themselves to harass and send explicit messages and photographs along with threats to both her and her family.

She continued: “When I got the phone call saying he had been arrested, I was so relieved because I thought, ‘Fantastic, who is he?’

“But they [the police] said ‘We can’t tell you.’ Okay but where does he live roughly? ‘We can’t tell you.’

“Do I know him? Is he an ex-partner? ‘We can’t tell you anything.’”

The Good Morning Britain host was stunned at the lack of knowledge the authorities would give the soap star as she commented: “Oh, it’s giving me chills when you say that.”

As Ed Balls asked why the police weren’t able to give her any information, Nicola explained she didn’t know why and still hasn’t been told.

Police told Good Morning Britain the investigation was hampered by the “complex and protracted” process of obtaining information from social media companies in order to prove Ravinderjit was the man behind dozens of chilling messages.

Nicola didn’t learn her stalker’s name until the day she turned up to court after the police had taken out a stalking protection order on her behalf.

The soap star went on to reveal that just a few weeks ago, she was standing behind her stalker in the queue for going to court for his sentencing.

She told the two hosts: “You have to queue up to go inside and you go through security and you give your name to the security guard as you’re going through.

“I stood behind him and he gave his name to the security guard and at that point, I just completely froze because that was him.

“That’s the man who had harassed and stalked me since 2018 and he was right there in front of me.”

In the end, his IP address was finally linked by the police to the accounts he was using to harass Nicola and he was arrested.

Ravinderjit was convicted in April for stalking involving fear of violence and has been remanded in custody to appear at Isleworth Crown Court for sentencing in September.

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
