"For us and we found out that this is a key, he wasn't answering to his name, he wasn't playing Peekaboo, he was walking and running around but he's got autism and he has got something called global development delay, so he's not speaking."
"But he is lovely, and he is cuddly, and he is happy," added the star.
"If he wants something he grabs your hand."
Gregg urged other people to seek help and advice if they suspect their child has developmental disabilities.
He revealed that as a result of working with specialists, the star and his wife have learned how to have more and more interaction with Sid, who he said was a "beautiful" boy.
Viewers flocked to Twitter to praise the TV star after he opened up to the show's panellists.
One person posted: "Love Gregg Wallace talking about his son and autism/global delay, my daughter @maggott1993 is a speech and language specialist and everything he described they do is what she recommends to all her parents and not being on denial is brilliant."
