Harrison Ford Meets an Old Foe in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ Super Bowl Spot

Being aired during the big game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, the TV spot also sees Ford’s titular character and Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Helena Shaw taking a leap of faith.

AceShowbiz -“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” was one of those who attempted to take the spotlight during Super Bowl LVII. During the broadcast of the big game on Sunday, February 12, Lucasfilm unleashed a new sneak peek for the upcoming movie.

The TV spot opens with Harrison Ford‘s titular character apparently meeting and recognizing an old foe. “You,” he said, prompting Mads Mikkelsen‘s Jurgen Voller to ask, “Have we met?” Still hating the Nazi, Indy asked back, “My memory’s a little fuzzy, are you still a Nazi?”

The ad then goes on to highlight the action sequences, in which Indy rides a horse through a city parade and jumping off a car onto another vehicle on a busy street. The 30-second Super Bowl spot ends with Indy and Phoebe Waller-Bridge‘s Helena Shaw taking a plunge from a broken plane.

The fifth “Indiana Jones” movie is set in 1969, during the Space Race between the U.S. and Soviet Russia. Indy had started to feel doubts when the U.S. Government recruited former World War II enemies in their desperation to beat the Soviet Union out in the competition to make it to space. His goddaughter Helena accompanies him on his journey. Meanwhile, Voller, a NASA member and ex-Nazi involved with the moon-landing program, wishes to make the world into a better place as he sees fit.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is set to open in U.S. theaters on June 30. Unlike the previous installments, Steven Spielberg is not directing and passed the duty to James Mangold, who also penned the script. Spielberg is still credited as executive producer along with George Lucas.

Mangold recently denied rumors that the movie underwent reshoots to make “alt endings.” He tweeted in December 2022, “So I took a b-day break from trolls. But it seems I gotta once again say.. We’re not shooting [and] never shot any new scenes or ‘alt endings.’ Our film is [99 percent] finished, getting rated by MPAA [and] VFX being completed. Happy Holidays!”
