I was on Love Island and here’s exactly how many cigarettes you’re allowed a day to smoke in secret | The Sun

FORMER Love Island star Laura Anderson has revealed how many cigarettes you’re allowed to smoke each day in the villa.

Early seasons of the hit ITV2 dating show saw islanders smoking on the screen, but from the 2019 series onwards this stopped, and the contestants have been given a designated smoking area instead.

Islanders can smoke and vape but they’ll do so away from the cameras and they aren’t allowed to gather in large groups to discourage social smoking.

Show alumni Laura, 32, who appeared on series four, answered a Love Island fan’s question on Reddit as they asked about cigarette allowance on the show.

They wrote: “Hi Laura! You just said in an answer you have to stick to your allowance, I never heard about having an allowance in the villa, can you tell us more?”

Laura replied: “5 for social smokers, 10 if daily smoker. It might have changed. When you finish that’s it.”

Another former islander elaborated on the smoking process, revealing producers would secretly sneak cigarettes in for contestants.

Sharon Gaffka – who rose to fame on the ITV2 dating show back in its seventh series – explained smokers had to "ask" for breaks outside the villa using their "limited" supplies.

Sharon, 26, opened up in a tell-all chat exclusively to The Sun about how Islanders would get around the rules of not leaving the villa.

She explained that smokers were given access to the outside in order to use their allocated cigarettes by production staff.

"I don't remember there being smokers when I was there, but I know if you were you would have your cigarettes allocated to you in a lunch box and you'd have to ask a member of production," Sharon said.

"I'm not sure if they got rationed, but I remember those lunch boxes had people's name on for cigarettes.

"If you wanted a cigarette you would have to say into your microphone 'I really want to go for a cigarette'.

"They'd say, 'OK, we'll get someone from production to supervise you and it'll take place outside the front door somewhere'.

"You would go there, you would have your cigarette and then you'd go straight back in. You wouldn't be on your own, it would be you and a member of production."
