Ben and Erin Napier are right at home on HGTV. The couple’s reality series Home Town has just been renewed for a sixth season. Plus, Ben is also set to star in a second season of his spin-off show, Home Town: Ben’s Workshop, which streams on discovery+.
‘Home Town’ Season 6 will air in 2022
Home Town premiered in 2016 and follows Erin and Ben as they renovate old houses in Laurel, Miss. The show has been a hit with viewers. The most recent season, which aired earlier in 2021, attracted 32 million audiences, according to HGTV. So, it’s no big surprise that the network is bringing the show back for another season — and adding a second season of Ben’s Home Town spinoff to its streaming lineup.
Home Town Season 6 will begin airing in early 2022. The season will have 20 episodes, all of which will also stream on discovery+.
Ben Napier’s ‘Home Town’ spinoff show gets a second season
In addition to renewing Home Town, a 10-episode second season of Ben’s spinoff show, Home Town: Ben’s Workshop, is also in the works. The streaming-only show spotlights Ben as he welcomes celebrity guests into his workshop. The first season premiered on discovery+ in early 2021.
“I’ve always loved the bigger projects we do for Home Town because Erin and I help make a difference for homeowners and for entire neighborhoods,” Ben said in a statement. “Now I have the added bonus of sharing more of my passion on Home Town: Ben’s Workshop. Showcasing the patience and detail that goes into woodworking with fans who wanted to see more of that process is a dream come true.”
Will there be a ‘Home Town Takeover’ Season 2?
So far, HGTV hasn’t made any announcements about a second season of the Napiers’ other show, Home Town Takeover. The series, which premiered in 2021, followed Ben and Erin as they took on their biggest project yet — renovating the entire town of Wetumpka, Ala.
Home Town Takeover was popular with viewers, ranking as the No. 1 new unscripted cable series in key demographics, Deadline reported. But fans eager to see the couple bring their magic to another downtrodden town will have to wait. As of now, there are no plans for Home Town Takeover Season 2, Erin has said.
“I’ll be honest, the takeover life is not all that simpatico with family life,” she wrote in a June 10 tweet. “It was an amazing adventure for us, but likely the only one like it until (maybe) our girls are much older.”
Ben and Erin welcomed their second child, a daughter named Mae, in late May 2021. They also have a 3-year daughter named Helen.
