Spoilers: Martin faces turmoil on the anniversary of Kush's death in EastEnders

As the repercussions of the evil crimes of Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) continue to be felt all around EastEnders, there’s a sad anniversary coming up. It’ll soon be a year since Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami) was killed by Gray, who pushed him into the path of a train.

Kush was loved by many people in Albert Square, but he had a particularly strong bond with Martin Fowler (James Bye). Their friendship survived multiple dramas, including Kush being the father of Stacey (Lacey Turner)’s son Arthur (Hunter Bell). There were arguments and fights aplenty but throughout it all, Martin and Kush’s friendship stayed strong.

In Kush’s final scenes last year, he said a fond and emotional goodbye to his best mate as he headed off to start a new life with Whitney (Shona McGarty) and Arthur. While Whitney took Arthur to the toilet, Kush waited for them on the train platform. Gray suddenly appeared and there was a fight, during which Gray pushed Kush in front of a train to his death.

Martin has only just discovered that his best friend was one of Gray’s victims and the knowledge is hanging heavily over him as he mourns the loss of his friend.

Along with Kat (Jessie Wallace), he reminisces about Kush in poignant scenes to be aired soon. Will Martin be able to move on from his loss?
