Reality star Jake Quickenden and his pregnant girlfriend Sophie Church opened up about keeping the spark alive in their relationship just before the arrival of their baby son Leo Oliver on Friday.
The former Dancing on Ice champion, 32, announced in September last year that he's expecting a baby with 27-year-old model and businesswoman Sophie.
New parents Jake and Sophie welcomed their first child together on February 26, and the lead up to Leo's birth will be part of a brand-new MTV show which follows six celebrity couples on they bumpy rides to coming parents.
Speaking to Daily Star two weeks ago ahead of the launch of Celebrity Bumps: Famous & Pregnant on Wednesday evening, Jake explained the reason why they jumped at the chance to appear on the fly-on-the-wall docuseries.
The former I'm A Celebrity contestant said: "I think it’s nice for me and Soph to do some work together and to show real life because people like to watch real.
"Also we wanted to do it to show other couples that it’s ok to have a baby in a pandemic.
"We didn’t plan to have a baby in a pandemic, but it’s fine and we wanted to show the real life side of things."
The former X Factor contestant went on to share the importance of keeping the spark alive in the relationship throughout the pregnancy.
Jake said: "Being pregnant, the spark doesn't go obviously but I don't want to be prodding Soph at 11 o'clock at night saying 'Fancy a bit?'
"You kind of have to shut off from all that and realise that it’s not the same at the minute and, when the baby is here, the baby has got to come first.
"At the end of the day we’re a family and Soph is my priority as much as the baby, so whatever makes her happy."
He joked: "But if she wants a bit of funky time then let’s go."
Sophie added: "If you’ve got a newborn baby or a child it’s important to spend that time with each other and not lose that relationship."
