Ken Bruce has no hard feelings after leaving BBC Radio 2
In January, the 71-year-old announced he had made the decision to leave his mid-morning show after confessing he believed it was the right time to go. On Monday’s instalment of BBC Breakfast, the radio host spoke to hosts Jon Kay and Nina Warhurst ahead of his Greatest Hits Radio debut explaining why he really made the move after three decades.
After joining the BBC back in 1977, Ken became a well-established name associated with the broadcaster for his Radio 2 show.
Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Monday morning ahead of his first show on Greatest Hits Radio, the 71-year-old confessed he was looking forward to starting the new venture.

The former Radio 2 host replied: “I don’t think there was one moment, it was just a gradual relation.
“I’d been at the BBC for a long long time, I’d done almost everything I think I could do at the BBC.
“So I thought, ‘is there one last challenge left in you?’ and I thought, ‘yeah let’s go and try it somewhere else.’
“That’s what I’ve ended up doing. I don’t think there was a single moment where I can pinpoint where I wanted to leave. It was never really a desire to get out of the BBC.
“It was really just a chance and opportunity to move forward and do something slightly different while I still can so that’s why I’m here.”
Elsewhere in the interview, presenter Jon questioned whether or not it feels strange to him doing the same job in a new home.
Confessing it does feel a bit odd to be presenting in a different place from what he’s been used to for decades, Ken stated the setup is still quite similar.
He commented: “I look around the studio I’m in and it’s not quite the same as it was. There’s always a thought about which button to press but actually it’s really easy here and it should be anyway.

“There’s a certain strangeness but when you’re on the radio, it’s almost the same anywhere you are really. You’re just talking into that microphone to one person at the other end.”
