The Bill star leaves behind epic £8m fortune after dying of pancreatic cancer

    Iconic The Bill actor George Rossi died last year, but left behind a whopping £8m fortune to his family after his death.

    The actor, who has had roles in Whitechapel and played DC Duncan Lennox between 1998 and 2003 in The Bill, died of pancreatic cancer in January 2022 but his astounding fortune has only just been revealed.

    Leaving his fortune to his wife Catrin and children Matilda and Santino, the actor left a sizeable sum of £8,059,966.67 after his death, The Sun reported.

    After debts and bills were paid, the total estate was reportedly worth £3.6m.

    At the time of George's death, his widow Catrin told MailOnline: "George was a wonderful person. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after losing his battle against pancreatic cancer.

    "He died at home which is what he wanted. We will miss him terribly and we are all really grieving at the moment and trying to come to terms with this huge loss. The children are devastated as am I."

    She added: "It was expected but this has hit us hard and we really don't know what more to say."

    George made his debut in The Bill in 1993, and would go on to appear in almost 200 episodes.

    He left the police drama in 2003, but continued into other roles playing officers in Taggart, and the first two series' of Whitechapel playing another detective DC McCormack.

    The actor's final project was as David in the film Le Cineaste – A Director's Journey, which he filmed in 2020.

    The actor died just aged 60 from pancreatic cancer, and even continued acting right up until he death.

    His niece Louisa wrote at the time of his death: "Unfortunately, George Rossi who played DC Duncan Lennox passed away the morning of Wednesday 5th January 2022.

    "This is my uncle. He was acting still up until recently. Unfortunately, he passed away yesterday morning."
