Emmerdale’s Kim Tate (Claire King) set a cunning plan in motion tonight (May 31), as she invited her nearest and dearest over to Home Farm for a dinner party.
With all her guests gathered, she informed them that she was stepping back from both the business and the estate, and would subsequently be selecting a successor.
Kim Tate retiring? Surely not!
The legend, of course, has no intention of retiring. But given that she now knows that someone has been poisoning her, she’s intent on finding out who it is that’s out to take her down.
Kim’s announcement well and truly set the cat among the pigeons, as the bickering started among the guests, with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) claiming that he’s the perfect man for the job.
Al Chapman (Michael Wildman), meanwhile, felt he was better suited to the position, throwing his hat in the ring.
Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) made it quite clear that he wanted no part in running the business, while Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) was evidently fuming that he was not his mum’s first choice to carry on her work.
Dawn (Olivia Bromley) voiced her opinion, telling Kim that she’s no gold digger – reminding everyone that that’s more Gabby Thomas’ (Rosie Bentham) thing.

Kim, evidently believing her poisoner to be one of the aforementioned lot, has secured the upper hand over the mystery assailant.
The question is: will her plan work?
Will she force the poisoner’s hand, resulting in them revealing their identity?
Has she perhaps set in motion a chain of events that will ultimately lead to the antagonist being revealed?
Only time will tell.
Emmerdale continues Tuesday June 1 at 7pm on ITV.
