Line of Duty's Vicky McClure eyed by Strictly bosses to dance in the new series

STRICTLY bosses are desperate to land a Line of Duty star for the new series – and have set their sights on Vicky McClure.

The Sun can reveal BBC producers are determined to try and benefit from the crime drama’s runaway success.

And they believe 37-year-old Vicky, who plays Detective Constable Kate Fleming in the programme, may be up for a slot on TV’s most-loved Saturday night show.

Our TV insider said: "Line Of Duty is the biggest show on telly by miles so Strictly producers would love to secure one of its stars to take part.

“They think Vicky would be amazing and that fans would love her so she is very high on their list of targets.”

The Sun understands that Vicky’s co-star Shalom Brune-Franklin is also on the radar of Strictly bosses. The stunning English-Australian actress plays DC Chloe Bishop on Line of Duty.

Last week the Sun revealed how BBC bosses are plotting to get Boris Johnson's girlfriend Carrie Symonds to strut her stuff on Strictly for months, sources have revealed.

They see her as the most glamorous woman in politics and a sure-fire hit with Saturday night viewers.

And Carrie, 33, could pocket a tidy sum towards her and PM Boris Johnson’s controversial flat refurb if she agrees to sashay on to the show.

A source told The Sun: “BBC bosses plan their line-up from the start of the year and Carrie was one of the earliest names on their list.

“Strictly has become the No1 show for so many political figures and Carrie is one of the biggest names — not only as Boris’s better half but as a campaigner and activist in her own right.

“The offer to take part in the next series is there if she wants to take it.

“Her name has been in the mix for a while and she’d be a brilliant contestant if she chose to take part.”
