Lorraine Kelly’s ITV series ‘axed’ over ‘poor ratings’

Queens for the Night: Lorraine Kelly introduces the show

Lorraine Kelly’s ITV series Queens for the Night has reportedly been axed.

Queens for the Night aired in autumn last year and saw the likes of Adam Woodyatt and Simon Gregson taking part and were guided by mentors Myra Dubois and Kitty Scott-Claus.

However, according to The Sun, ITV has decided to not bring back the show for a second series because of “poor ratings”.

A source claimed: “The show was always thought of as a bit of a ‘special’ for ITV but there was always the hope it might take off and become a series.

“That hasn’t happened but it’s the kind of programme channel bosses could bring back sporadically.”

They added: “It was a bold choice for ITV1 on a Saturday, but a worthy one.”

Queens For the Night was announced as a special last year and saw Lorraine welcoming a panel of guest judges including Melanie C, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie star Layton Williams, Drag Race icon and Celebrity Big Brother winner Courtney Act and comedian Rob Beckett.

“I’m so excited to be hosting this show,” the ITV host said at the time.

“I am a huge fan of Drag and can not wait to see a host of well-known stars embrace this uniquely wonderful and uplifting skill.

“It’s a show that will have humour, warmth and above all lots and lots of glamour, I can’t wait to get started.”

“This is going to be a fabulous show,” judge Courtney continued.

“The celebrities might be new to this, but I won’t hold back with my critique.

“They might all be experts in their own fields but they’re stepping into my domain now and I want to see some exceptional performances.

“The bar is high so they need to bring their ‘A’ game.”

Queens for the Night is available to watch on the ITV Hub.
