Love Island has confirmed model Shannon Singh as one of its new contestants, with the 2021 line-up unveiled gradually throughout Monday.
While Shannon, 22, is open about her past as a glamour model, the Scottish star prefers to go by a different name before the cameras.
In her career as a Page 3 model, Shannon decided to go by the pseudonym "Ruby," even featuring as this Monday's Page 3 girl in Daily Star.
The model-turned-DJ, who also does commercial modelling and work as an influencer, previously opened up about her initiation into the glamour modelling industry.
Though Shannon was scouted aged 18, it was her mum who encouraged her to do Page 3, and her dad used to work as a stripper.
She told Daily Star: "My dad used to be a stripper and my mum was actually the reason I got into glamour.
"She was like ‘you need to take this opportunity – do it'."
The brunette businesswoman added her parents support her professional decision to work as a glamour model, describing her mum as her "cheerleader".
She said: "My mum and dad are so supportive.
"Obviously my dad's not jumping for joy that I chose to be a glamour model, but I'm really open and my mum loves it.
"She's my little cheerleader – I'm really grateful."
A regular of Daily Star's Hot Topics, Shannon – going by her former Instagram name "Alexa Singh" – shared her views on everything from trolling to getting fillers.
In February, she slammed criticism of influencers who have undergone cosmetic procedures, saying: “Why do you care? Let them do them and you do you.”
No doubt, Shannon, who currently has 154,000 followers on Instagram, will see her follower count skyrocket in the weeks to come.
Opening up about her decision to join the cast of Love Island, Shannon described it as an “opportunity of a lifetime,” hoping to meet the man of her dreams in the villa.
Shannon refuses to be ashamed of her glamour modelling past, and describes her time as a model as her “glory days”.
She said: “I used to be a glamour model when I was 18/19. I loved those days, I’ve got nothing to be ashamed of, they were my glory days.
“Now I’m more on Instagram/ YouTube. I’ve done a bit of commercial modelling. I can DJ as well.”
Love Island starts at 9pm Monday 28th June on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
