Married At First Sight UK's experts and viewers were left appalled as Franky scolded his wife Marilyse in front of the other contestants at the latest explosive dinner party.

On Monday's episode of the E4 reality series, the pair both read out an anonymous letter written to them by one of the other couples, which pointed out flaws in their marriage.

However, Franky was left raging when Marilyse – who seemed determined to remain positive – thanked the writers of the letter as he was wrapping up a sentence.

"Maybe when I speak, don't speak," he snapped at her, which left Marilyse noticeably upset and the other couples in shock.

Confused, Marilyse asked: "What do you mean?"

Franky, who has slammed producers for editing the 'real him' out of the show, explained: "I was just saying something to them all.

Marilyse informed him: "That's not a nice thing to say," before Franky agreed and apologised.

The moment didn't go down too well with the experts, who applauded Marilyse for "standing her ground".

"This is great to see. She's actually ruined her back on him," Mel Schillings said.

Charlene Douglas added: "She's arrived at that point on her own."

Viewers at home also expressed their outrage over the moment on social media.

"Franky is literally horrifying. This is the start of an abusive/gaslighting situation. "Don't speak when I speak" like what #MAFSUK," one person tweeted.

Another added: "Woah. Woah. Woah. Franky said "while I speak, don't speak" come on. He is controlling! He needs to be taken out of this process! #MAFSUK."

A third echoed: "Franky seems to be talking for the both of them, Marylise looks too scared to talk!! Let her speak!! #MAFSUK #MarriedAtFirstSightuk."

The episode aired a few days after Franky took to his Instagram to address concerns surrounding his behaviour on the show.

He said: "I'm inundated with messages, WhatsApps, Insta DMs and Facebook DMs. Everyone's saying 'what the hell's going on? What the hell's going on?'

"I am not the guy who edits all the footage. I just don't know what's going on. It is what it is, you know. I'm thick-skinned."
