It was recently announced the Channel 5 Australian soap will no longer be airing in the UK, which left fans devastated. However, after eagle-eyed fans noticed actress Colette Mann, who plays Sheila Canning, wasn’t in the behind-the-scenes pictures, they assumed she was leaving the show for good too.

Next week in upcoming scenes, Sheila heads out of Erinsborough following a family emergency.

After receiving some worrying news, Sheila rushes out to Los Angeles to support her daughter Naomi (Morgana O’Reilly).

As she leaves for the states, her grandsons Kyle Canning (Chris Milligan) and Levi Canning (Richie Morris) are told she is travelling because Naomi’s boyfriend has fallen ill.

After she lands in LA, words soon starts to spread around Ramsay Street that Naomi’s boyfriend has passed away, leaving the Canning family worried.

With her partner’s three children to now look after, Naomi tells her mother she feels out of her depth but is soon reassured when Sheila says she will stay to support them.

Viewers will see Sheila on screen as usual in the coming days, but as of next week, her “exit” scenes will take place with her remaining off-screen.

Is this the end for Sheila in Ramsay Street?

The rumours come after fans spotted she wasn’t behind-the-scenes with her Canning family co-stars.

Fans also became curious about certain Canning family members when their shot was the only new one in the Neighbours opening titles.

Sheila joined Neighbours in 2012 and has been a central figure for many who live on Ramsay Street and has been involved in some self-inflicted drama.

The future of the serial drama has recently been thrown into question after the broadcaster announced their plans to drop it from the schedule.

In a statement, they said: “Neighbours will no longer air on Channel 5 beyond this summer.

“It’s been a much-loved part of our schedule for more than a decade, and we’d like to thank the cast, Fremantle and all of the production team for their fantastic work on this iconic series.

“We’d also, of course, like to thank the fans for their loyal support of Neighbours across the years.

“We recognise that there will be disappointment about this decision however, our current focus is on increasing our investment in original UK drama, which has strong appeal for our viewers.”

Neighbours has been a staple daytime TV show for many years and have seen the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie and Liam Hemsworth star in episodes

@PaigeyEliza added: “I am going to miss #Neighbours so much! It is such a comfort programme for everyone I know!” (sic)
