Popular Channel 4 show axed this year as the series’ future looks uncertain amid cash-saving cuts | The Sun

A POPULAR Channel 4 show has been axed for this year as cash-saving cuts continue.

The broadcaster has pulled Andrew Neil's political programme from their schedules.

It means Andrew, 74, won't be back on air with his show for the remainder of the year.

The Guardian reports that bosses at the cash-strapped channel have not ordered a new series for next year – leaving the show's future in doubt.

Andrew's agent Joanthan Shalit confirmed the news, saying: “Channel 4’s Andrew Neil Show will not be returning this year … though Andrew and Channel 4 have yet to decide if it will return next year.”

The former GB News and BBC star's Sunday night series started last year, with the latest run finishing in April.

Neil's show is just the latest casualty in a series of culls by Channel 4 bosses.

The network has reportedly run into funding issues and has had to make the difficult decision to can a slew of successful shows.

The budget cuts are said to have affected Four Weddings, Scared of The Dark and Rescue: Extreme Medics.

According to the Daily Mail, staff at the struggling channel are calling the culling of these shows a 'bloodbath'.
