Power Book II: Ghost is currently filming its third season and fans are already anticipating what’s next. The drama series centers on Tariq St. Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr.) following the murder of his father, James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick). Tariq has lost a lot between the original series and this one, but his friendship with Brayden Weston (Gianni Paolo) has remained solid.
Now after the events of season 2, their friendship could be changed forever.
Tariq will deal with betrayal in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ season 3
Despite his best intentions, Tariq is still very much entangled with the Tejada family and their drug business. He’s also beginning to see the consequences of his actions amid the death of his ex-girlfriend Lauren Baldwin (Paige Hurd). However, what Tariq hasn’t realized is that Brayden and Effie (Alix Laprii) are responsible for Lauren’s death though they made it look accidental.
“It’s going to be hard for them for all of them to hide one secret from Tariq,” Rainey Jr. told PopSugar. “You know Tariq, he’s smart, he’s going to figure out something. He’s going to get to the bottom of what he wants to get to the bottom of. So it’s definitely going to be some up and downs in [those] relationships and that’s one thing I’m excited to see: the rocky road that they’re about to start. It’s going to be crazy.”
As far as Tariq knows, Effie and Brayden in particular are extremely loyal to him. This betrayal will change everything.
Tariq and Brayden’s friendship could be changed forever in season 3
Though he hurt Brayden’s family by using a private photo to repay Rashad Tate (Larenz Tate), Brayden has mostly shown Tariq complete loyalty. “Tariq has trusted a lot of people,” Power Universe creator Courtney Kemp said during an Instagram Live. “He has been close to a lot of people. He has not had his head on a swivel like he needs to, so he’s going to have a few feelings. There’s going to be a few feelings. So that’s gonna happen for sure. Coming out and having the anger of being betrayed is going to shift you in a way … so just think about those things.”
Now in season 3, with their business on the fritz and Brayden working for his father, the best friends’ relationship will be changed forever. We think the guilt about Lauren will begin to weigh heavily on Brayden. Moreover, there might be something else in the works that distracts him.
Brayden is getting a new love interest in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3
As we know, Brayden is easily distracted, and though he’s thrilled by the gangster life, he doesn’t quite have the heart for it.
However, we may get to see things change for Brayden in Ghost Season 3. “I want to kill someone, that’s like dream Brayden, I want to get deep in,” Paolo said on an Instagram Live with Kemp. “I would like to get it on or a romance, those are always fun, that kind of stuff. I want him to see when he’s actually in love and when he’s actually with someone.”
Though the Power Universe creator remained coy she did say, “I think some of that is coming.”
