Queen of the South fans were thrilled when James Valdez (played by Peter Gadiot) returned to the USA Network in the final few moments of series four. He will also be back for season five, so viewers have been wondering if he and Teresa (Alice Braga) are going to pick up from where they left off. The teaser for series five has hinted at the fact their romance may very well be back on.

When Teresa was kidnapped by Camila Vargas’ (Veronica Falcon) men back in series one, she didn’t know how to get out of the situation.
Instead, she agreed to work for Camila and was given plenty of guidance by her right-hand man James.
Over time, as Teresa and James spent more time together, the pair bonded and he started to work for her when she set up her own drug cartel.
But as fans know all too well, their relationship isn’t just professional.
Throughout the series, Teresa and James have grown closer and in series three, their chemistry came to a head.
In episode five, after having an intimate heart-to-heart, James and Teresa slept together.
Fans had been waiting for this since the first series, so it was a welcomed moment in Queen of the South.
Sadly, when he felt she questioned his loyalty at the end of series three, James left, going off with the CIA in order to try and protect her from within enemy lines.
Will Teresa and James get back together?
In the series four finale, James rushed back to the warehouse with a serious injury to his abdomen.
When Teresa questioned what had happened to him, he didn’t tell her but said she was in danger as someone was after her.
This is how series four ended and while there were some concerned if James would be back full-time for season five, he does feature in the trailer, hinting at the fact he is back.
Another clip featured in the trailer also teases romance is back on the cards for the pair.

The trailer for Queen of the South series five came out on Monday, March 1.
In the series of clips, James is seen, presumably talking to Teresa, saying how she needs to “watch yourself”.
He then says: “You need to disappear”, perhaps because of the mysterious threat he warned her about in season four.
But what is catching fans’ attention though is he is saying all of this while lying on a bed, head propped up on a pillow.
Does this mean James and Teresa are back on for series five?
The trailer also reveals that King George (Ryan O’Nan) is making a comeback to the drama.
He is seen on the phone saying: “We’ve got a serious problem, Teresa.”, so he is back working for the queenpin.
But will Camila also return for the new lot of episodes or is she once again going to be missing from the show?
Queen of the South season 5 will premiere in April 2021 on USA Network.
