Stranger Things 4: Trailer for Volume 2
Stranger Things season four ended on a dramatic cliffhanger leaving many fans speculating the fifth and final season will showcase an epic showdown between Eleven (played by Millie Bobby Brown) and Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
However, it appears this is not entirely the case as instead, Noah Schnapp’s Will Byers will lead the way.
In the first season of the hit Netflix sci-fi show, Will gets dramatically abducted to the infamous Upside Down, kicking off the whole series.
And according to the show’s co-creator Ross Duffer, fans will revisit this pivotal storyline to help conclude the series and tie up any loose ends.
“Will really takes centre stage again in season five,” Ross revealed to Variety.

“This emotional arc for him is what we feel is going to hopefully tie the whole series together,” he added, as the upcoming season will be the show’s last.
“Will is used to being the young one, the introverted one, the one that’s being protected,” Ross continued, before adding: “So part of his journey, it’s not just sexuality — it’s Will coming into his own as a young man.”
It is believed the character will play a crucial role in Vecna’s downfall, with the help of his Hellfire Club members, of course.
Throughout season four it was evident Will remained psychically connected to the powerful puppet master, despite being rescued from the Upside Down years ago.

While his connection to Vecna was never directly addressed, Will sensed Vecna’s presence after the final gate opened and tragically ripped Hawkins to shreds.
Unfortunately, it looks like fans will be waiting a while to see how Will, will play a part in Vecna’s demise.
The production of its final season has been halted thanks to the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes.
Ross and his fellow co-creator and brother Matt confirmed the news on Twitter announcing that work on new episodes had been delayed.
“Writing does not stop when filming begins,” the writers shared in May – when the strikes first began.
“While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out.”
Bearing this in mind, along with the astronomical amount of post-production work involved in creating a season of the hit series, it is expected that Stranger Things won’t be back on fans’ screens until 2025 at the earliest.
For now, fans can stream seasons one to four of Stranger Things on Netflix.
