Strictly Come Dancing bosses have announced three new celebrity contestants for its 2021 line-up.

The three new contestants were all announced on The One Show on Wednesday, after the big announcement was teased on the official Strictly Twitter account earlier in the day.

Getting fans all aflutter, the announcement read: "We are so ready to reveal the #Strictly class of 2021!

"Meet our first three celebrities, tonight 7pm @BBCTheOneShow."

McFly's Tom Fletcher, Peep Show star Robert Webb, and TV presenter AJ Odudu will all be taking to the Strictly stage to compete for this year's crown.

The three first celebs will all be getting used to glitz and glamour as they don glittery outfits to perform for the judges, and it's already set to be an all-star line-up.

And dancing certainly isn't new to all of the contestants, as Tom Fletcher is used to bopping around on stage as one of McFly's lead vocalists and rhythm guitar player.

He's had plenty of advice from band-mate Harry Judd, who famously took the Strictly crown in 2011.

He'll be following in wife Giovanna's reality show footsteps after she was crowned Queen of the Jungle after her Welsh I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here stint.

Speaking on The One Show, Tom said he'd known since Christmas that he would be appearing on Strictly.

"I'm equal parts excited and terrified," he admitted. "I feel naked without my guitar!"

Tom added: "I can't shut Harry [Judd] up about Strictly. He's been giving me loads of advice already."

He said Harry had an "incredible time" on the show, explaining: "Since then, really, I've had this kind of secret little desire to do it, but it's always kind of been his thing so I wanted to make sure he was happy with me doing it!"

Harry quickly wrote into the show to have his own say about Tom's Strictly stint, penning: "I'm so pleased he's doing Strictly, it's win win for me, because if he wins he's my mate and band-mate and I'll be so pleased for him.

"But if he doesn't win, even better, because I can always remind him of who did!"

Comedian Robert Webb, meanwhile, famously shot to victory with his Flashdance – clad in a traditional leotard – for Let's Dance for Comic Relief back in 2009.

Robert said on the show: "It's very, very exciting, but with an undertone of quivering terror!"

As he looked back at his 2009 Comic Relief routine, he giggled: "The costume did most of the work for me."

After suffering a health scare, Robert said he wanted to get out and do more things, admitting: "You get to a point in life where you think this is no longer a point to be cool."

AJ, meanwhile, gushed: "This is a dream come true.

"I'm not incredibly competitive but I just wanna do my very best!"

AJ added that her mum is just as excited as she is to watch her daughter every week!

And AJ has famously spoke about her "active" on-stage persona, having recently taken part in the Celebrity Karaoke Club on ITV2.

Speaking about her time on the show, AJ said: "I’m more shouty and active. I don’t know whether anything I brought to the stage could be counted as singing or dancing per se, but I am very physical.

"I like to use the stage and there’s nothing subtle about me. I mean, hey listen, I committed, let’s just say that, I fully committed."

It has already been confirmed that Strictly won't be heading to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom this year, after skipping over the phase last year due to Covid-19 restrictions.

But fans can look forward to a full-length series at last, after the 2020 series was cut short due to the pandemic.

Bookies have already got an eye on who could be joining the three confirmed celebs – with Line of Duty star Vicky McClure currently at 6-4 odds to take part, according to Coral Bookmakers.

Olympic diver Tom Daley and chatty man Alan Carr are also high up on the list of celebs tipped to take part.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey's daughter Matilda – who is a presenter on CBBC in her own right – is also a bookies' favourite.
