Strictly’s Bobby Brazier promises ‘I just love dancing – I’m a performer!’

EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier, who is also known as the son of late Big Brother icon Jade Goody, recently sharing that he thinks his mum would be "happy" about his new project, has given a tease as to what people can expect from his stint on Strictly Come Dancing this year.

The up and coming star, who has been making waves on Albert Square and even won an NTA for his performance on the BBC soap, has promised that viewers can expect him to put his all into learning to dance as well.

The blue-eyed favourite, 20, who has already been tipped as one of the potential winners of this year's competition, shared that he "just loves dancing" ahead of the grand launch this weekend.

He also admitted that despite already turning heads ahead of his arrival on the dancefloor, Bobby has never watched Strictly Come Dancing before.

What's more, the actor has never met any of his fellow contestants before, despite an already "popping" WhatsApp group, but fellow EastEnders co-star James Bye gave him some rather important advice.

Bobby shared all on what he's most looking forward to in a new Q&A about joining the show's 2023 cast.

What made you want to take part in the show this year?

I was always going to say yes, whether it was this year, last year, the next year because I love dancing. That's it – whether it was on TV or not, the opportunity to dance with a professional dancer, and learn a different style of dancing every week is just my idea of a good time.

What do you think will be the biggest challenge?

Well, I don't have any idea but I can imagine it's going to be pretty tiring. Probably quite draining. Hopefully I can just remain grateful and remain purposeful. But I do expect to be tired.

How do you feel about being ‘Strictly-fied’?

I'm ready to just take it all in my stride, it's all part of doing Strictly I think it’ll make it even more fun. I imagine dancing is going to be great and dancing to music that I enjoy is going to be great, but doing it in a costume that fits the energy of the song and the dance and stuff…it's just one big performance and I’m a performer!

Are there any memorable or standout moments for you, from previous series?

I’ve never watched the show, so I’ll be coming in fresh!

Do you have any previous dance experience?

No, not really. I mean, I just love dancing so if I'm at a party, I dance, if I’m at home I dance…I’m always dancing.

How are you preparing for the show?

I've done absolutely nothing. These dancers are the fittest people I've ever met, they're like, robots – dancing machines! Maybe I'll start stretching a little bit. As far as dancing, my whole life has been a preparation – I'm not a trained dancer but I love to dance.

Have you had any advice from anyone who has done the show before?

James Bye told me to eat a lot!

Do you know any of your fellow 2023 contestants?

Not personally, but I’ve obviously heard of everyone before.

Who do you think is your biggest competition?

Eddie! His hips do not lie. He is great, he's brilliant and he's sweet too!

Do you have your eye on the Glitterball?

Of course, I always like to try my best!

Do you have a signature dance move you always do at parties?

Well, the caterpillar I don't pull it out very often. But it's the worm backwards…. so that’s a good’un. I just had to move my hips and my shoulders and you know, feel the rhythm.
