Susanna Reid took a swipe at Ant and Dec when she suggested it's 'someone else's turn' to win Best Presenter at this year's National Television Awards.

Ant and Dec are the golden boys of the glitzy annual award show as they take home yet more trophies every year, including last year when they beat Holly Willoughby and Piers Morgan to win their 20th Best TV Presenter award.

They were due to attend this year's ceremony at London's OVO Arena on Thursday night (October 13), but the pair regrettably revealed they had both been struck down by Covid.

But ITV star Susanna still couldn't resist digging at Ant and Dec, her ITV pals, on Thursday's (October 13) Good Morning Britain.

It's clear she thought it was high-time someone else won the Best Presenter award, and threw Alison Hammond's name in the ring as she was also nominated.

Her GMB co-star Kate Garraway said: "We all love Ant and Dec, but if it isn't them, I'd love it to be Alison," before Ben Shephard agreed: "Wouldn't that be fabulous?"

Susanna chimed in: "It's been them every single year," as Kate agreed: "They've had a run…"

Reid went on: "I can imagine that even Ant and Dec might think it's time for someone other than Ant and Dec, and so maybe it is Alison's [turn]."

Alison, And and Dec join legendary BBC chat show host Graham Norton and The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh in the Presenter category.

Kate herself is nominated in the Authored Documentary category for her ITV film Caring For Derek, the sequel to Finding Derek.

Garraway won the Best Documentary last year for Finding Derek, which detailed her husband's heartbreaking journey as the UK's longest suffering Covid patient.

Kate is nominated alongside Katie Price, Paddy and Christine McGuinness, late Wanted singer Tom Parker and Julia Bradbury.

Later in the show, Kate made an emotional plea for support before the event as she said it's a rare thing that caring gets "glamour".
