With Spring arriving next week, the 2022-23 broadcast season is beginning to come to a close. Now CBS has announced when fans can expect to see the season finale of all their favourite shows, including the end of crime drama S.W.A.T.
SWAT is in the midst of its sixth season but all fans want to know is when the finale is set to air.
CBS confirmed this week that the police procedural finale will air in two parts, each separated with a week-long wait.
Season six finale part one will air at 8pm on Friday, May 12 on CBS and part two will follow a week later at the same time on Friday, May 19.
But despite the finale date confirmation, the fan-favourite crime drama hasn’t yet been renewed for a new season.
It comes after CBS announced a bulk of its series’ set for renewal, and SWAT was missing from the list.
But according to Deadline, there is a glimmer of hope for fans as the outlet reported that, while the show has had early renewals previously, negotiations for season seven have only just started.
The good news continues after the outlet reported there are no major hurdles in the way of the SWAT renewal, with sources optimistic that a compromise on the budget and other points would be reached.
Budget cuts have become common practice for broadcast networks, like CBS, to ask for budget reductions on long-running series, which naturally become more expensive as they age.

When it comes to the success of S.W.A.T., the series is reported to increase in viewership year-on-year after its move to a Friday night time slot this season, where it has since thrived.
However, it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the crime drama, as the show has previously experienced a handful of lengthy delays.
The first delay of the year came between January and early February and another again in the middle of February due to a CBS schedule shake-up.
But that wasn’t the end, as fans of S.W.A.T are currently in the middle of another one.
The cop drama is set to return later this month on March 31, as a result of the ever-present NCAA Basketball Tournament taking up space on CBS until the beginning of April.
CBS will be serving as the official cable TV home for this year’s Men’s March Madness tournament.
The sporting tournament will replace a majority of CBS’s usual Friday night line-up, including SWAT, Blue Bloods and Fire Country.
But after this break, the network will return to its regular schedule and there’ll be a chance to tune into all three shows in the same evening again.
Although CBS has yet to confirm S.W.A.T’s continuation, a seventh instalment is looking more and more likely each week as new episodes have drawn in millions of viewers.
TV Line reported that S.W.A.T’s episode 13, drew its largest overnight audience 5.62 million viewers since May 2019.
While fans wait for the season seven renewal to be confirmed, they can look forward to the season six finale which is confirmed to air this May.
SWAT season 6 returns Friday, February 24 on CBS in the USA. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
