The deadline to apply for Race Across the World is fast approaching

Emon and Jamiul win Race Across the World Series Two

Season three of Race Across the World is heating up as the teams continue on their epic journey across Canada in the hopes of taking home a hefty cash prize of £200,000. The five teams, consisting of pairs from all over the UK, have had to use their wits and limited cash resources to reach their checkpoints and have often relied on the kindness of strangers to get to their destinations in the BBC series. Viewers at home wondering how they can be involved in the next series should look no further, here’s the lowdown from the reigning Race Across the World champion Emon Choudhury.

How to apply for Race Across the World?

Emon and his nephew Jamiul managed to make it to the top of a mountain first with the other teams not far behind the duo back in series two.

Appearing on the show proved to be a life-changing experience for Emon, who said he was pushed out of his comfort zone and is now raising money for charities by constantly undertaking marathons.

He is soon to be participating in his sixth marathon, while fasting during Ramadan, and is raising money for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Speaking about the application process for Race Across the World, he said: “We had to do a few activities. I remember one, off the top of my head, was we were in London and [the producers] told us, ‘Right, you’ve got half an hour, you have to get as far away from here as you can without using your phone or money.’

“They had a person with an iPhone recording us, we had to talk about certain things. I think they just wanted to see how we speak on camera and stuff. That was part of the application.

“Also, we did a lot of interviews with the production company. They were getting to know us, like our characters, who we are, what we’re about. So it was a lot of talking, I guess.”

He said the big thing about appearing on Race Across the World was about learning to budget and teams were guaranteed to run out of money and would need to ask for help at some point – something he admitted was “completely alien” to him and Jamiul.

“It’s taking you out of your comfort zone and making you do things you wouldn’t normally do,” he said.

Emon continued: “Since Race Across the World, I’ve learnt a lot about myself, I’m more open, I’m up for challenges.

“I’m not shy. I was never a shy person but I’m never gone and asked someone, ‘Are you eating that sandwich?’

“Also, it’s allowed me to think about what [it is like] for people who do need food, that do need help. I help as much as I can and as many people as I can.”

He admitted the show had also helped him to disconnect from his phone and he was no longer as attached as he used to, leaving it in a box when he got home from work.

While Emon is now busy fundraising, his nephew Jamiul now lives in London and is working within the architecture industry.

The official application page for Race Across the World states the show is looking for teams of two to apply with all applicants over 18 by the date of submission to take part.

There is an online application form prospective contestants can fill in and the deadline for series four is fast approaching.

You have until Friday, April 14, 2023 to submit your form when applications will be closing.
