The Voice UK fans were left fuming on Saturday night after coach Olly Murs sent home contestant Chantelle Padden.

Chantelle took on fellow Team Olly member Grace Holden in the first battle of the evening.

The singer's went up against each other to sing Kelly Clarkson's mega hit Breakaway.

After a stunning performance, will.iam called Chantelle "spectacular" and added that Grace's vocals were "magical".

Fans certain that Chantelle would sail through to next week's semi-final but Olly had different ideas and opted to save Grace.

Outraged viewer rushed to their keyboard to tell the pop star that they thought he'd sent the wrong contestant home.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "Wrong decision Olly Chantelle was amazing,Gutted!"

Another added: "Massive mistake! @chantellepadden clearly won that battle!"

A third person posted: "Honestly thought Chantelle was going to win #TheVoiceUK this year"

While a fourth viewer wrote: "Didn't see that coming, thought Chantelle won that round."

"They were both equally brilliant but Chantelle had a different more unique voice. There's no country singer through. Think it should've been Chantelle," a fifth fan said.

However, some fans of the show thought Olly made the right decision.

One viewer tweeted: "Grace deserved to go through.

"That was a hard one for Olly. Grace is great," another added.

Explaining the reason behind his decision, Olly said he was picking the contestant that he felt could "coach more" and "get more out of it".

Troublemaker singer Olly went on to reveal that he'd like to take Grace through to the semi-final next week.

Like a true profesional, Chantelle took the decision well, saying: "It didn’t go my way, but I’ve just got to keep going and do my best."

It was revealed on Saturday that Olly will be getting some advice singing sensation James Bay ahead of the semi-finals.
