This Morning regular Gyles Brandreth has joked he feels naked after making the decision to ditch his famous jumpers as the temperatures soar.

In the UK, temperatures are expected to reach temperatures around 40 degrees celsius this week, after The Met Office issued an extreme weather warning.

Host Alison Hammond revealed that The Met Office claims London will today, July 18, be the "hottest place in the world", even hotter than the Sahara Desert and Kingston, Jamaica.

The royal biographer and former Conservative MP is known for wearing an array of jumpers on television but he opted to ditch these today.

Speaking to Gyles, royal commentator and broadcaster Camilla Tominey asked: "Are you feeling naked without a jumper on?"

"Can I say, I'm feeling completely, I've been quite awkward," he said before Camilla added: "It's because you've not got your jumper on."

Gyles continued: "I do feel a bit uncomfortable, I've got the jumper downstairs and I'll be putting it on when I go out, the reason I put a jumper on outside is, because if you get cool outside, it's like a thermos flask and it keeps you cool, that's my idea with the jumpers."

This didn't go unnoticed with fans who flocked to social media after spotting Gyles had opted for different attire.

Taking to Twitter, one fan said: "Weird not seeing Gykes in a jumper #ThisMorning. Though it makes complete sense he isn't."

"Giles in a shirt…. wow #ThisMorning," said another.

Before a third commented: "Gyles ditches his jumper? What kind of sorcery is this? #thismorning."

"You know it's hot when Gyles Brandreth isn't wearing a jumper! #ThisMorning @GylesB1," tweeted a fourth.

While another added: "Gyles doesn't look right without his snazzy jumpers #ThisMorning."
