When Calls the Heart hits milestone as Erin Krakow admits ‘it feels so good’

Trailer for When Calls the Heart, returning to the Hallmark Channel in July

The Hallmark Channel’s When Calls the Heart has just hit a momentous milestone, and one of the show’s stars has shared her joy about making it to 100 episodes.

Erin Krakow, who plays widowed teacher Elizabeth Thatcher in the drama, revealed: “It feels so good to hit 100 episodes. I’m so happy.”

Erin is one of a handful of cast members who has been there since the very first episode, which premiered in 2014.

She is also joined by Martin Cummins, who plays Henry Gowen, Loretta Walsh (Florence Blakely), and Johannah Newmarch (Molly Sullivan).

The actress’ co-stars were also quick to share their excitement about the milestone.

Pascale Hutton, who plays Rosemary Coulter after joining in season one remarked: “Not a lot of shows get here. So for us to have reached 10 seasons…”

While Kevin McGarry, who joined as Mountie Nathan Grant back in season six, exclaimed: “I’m thrilled to be part of something that’s gone on for 10 years.”

The show, which was originally derived from a two-hour made for television movie of the same name, saw Maggie Grace in the lead role, before the series was created. But Erin has played Elizabeth over the ten season run.

The 100th episode will air on August 6 in the US and viewers can expect to see the return of two familiar characters from previous seasons.

Both Elizabeth’s Aunt Agatha (Karin Konoval) and her sister Julie (Charlotte Hegele) make a visit to Hope Valley as Elizabeth gets ready to wed Lucas (Chris McNally).

Initially, Elizabeth is overjoyed to be reunited with her aunt and sister but things take a dramatic turn when they suggest that Lucas work with Elizabeth’s father in Hamilton.

And given their absence in her life – Julie last appeared on screen in season six, while Agatha was last seen in season two – Elizabeth is understandably frustrated at their attempts to interfere.

In a teaser clip from the upcoming episode, an outraged Elizabeth tells Rosemary: “You would think after all these years they would understand this is where I belong. They’re treating me like I’m a little girl.”

Fans will need to tune in to see if Lucas is tempted by the offer of a job in a big city or not.

Regardless of his choice, it appears that When Calls the Heart has no plans to stop anytime soon.

While the tenth season premiered this summer, the show has already been renewed for an eleventh season.

When Calls the Heart season 10 is currently airing on the Hallmark Channel in the US, while it streams on Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
