Emmerdale fans will no doubt be familiar with the dramatic storyline of Meena Jutla over the past few months.
Viewers watched as the serial killer, played by Paige Sandhu, seemed to finally face justice this week after being sentenced to 75 years behind bars for the murders of Leanna Cavanagh, Andrea Tate and Ben Tucker.
During Monday's episode, it was revealed that Meena had been sentenced to a minimum of 75 years in prison with the judge adding: "You will remain in custody for the rest of your life."
Taking to Twitter after the scenes, the hit ITV soap shared an emotional video of Meena star Paige saying goodbye to viewers.
In the clip, Paige jokes: "She’s finally gone down. Who knew?"
The actress then continues: "I just want to say thank you all for all of your support. Thank you to everyone at Emmerdale and ITV and all my beautiful actors and the crew. You’re all amazing."
In soap land, however, multiple murders by one character isn't so uncommon, with Meena’s crimes not even the worst to be aired.
Read on for a run down of some of the worst soap serial killers, including what happened to them after they committed their grisly crimes.
Janine Butcher – EastEnders
Killing not one but two of her ex husbands, Eastenders’ Janine Butcher brought her killing spree to a third victim when she ran over Ronnie Mitchell's long-lost daughter, Danielle, breaking millions of viewers' hearts.
Her first husband Barry Evans met his end when she pushed him off a cliff in the Scottish Highlands following their wedding, while second husband Michael Moon was stabbed to death while she tried to blame Alice Branning for the crime.
After fleeing London to spend some time in Paris, Janine returned to the square in 2021, with fans unsure what her next move would be…
Tracy McDonald – Coronation Street
Tracy McDonald may seem a bit calmer these days on Corrie, but she has a murderous past, being behind the death of three other characters on the soap.
In 2007, she was heartbroken to find her boyfriend Charlie Stubbs had been sleeping with hairdresser Maria, but instead of confronting him, she decided to stage a seduction scene which ended with her hitting him around the head with an ornament.
After serving just three years in prison for his murder, she returned to Weatherfield but since has two more deaths on her conscience, after starting a fire at Victoria Court that claimed the lives of Kal Nazir and Maddie Heath back in 2015.
Lucas Johnson – EastEnders
Lucas Johnson was introduced to the soap as a preacher with a reformed criminal past, but it turned out he still had a dark side lurking.
His first murder came when he got in a fight with his estranged wife Trina, only for her to end up impaled on a sharp garden tool. Lucky for Lucas, her death was ruled ‘accidental’, leaving him free to think he could kill again.
When he was about to marry his new wife Denise, her ex Owen showed up and threatened to reveal his dark past. Lucas then strangled Owen and buried his body in the square under the tree that was planted in Trina’s memory. He even went as far as killing his son’s dog when he spotted the poor pooch sniffing around the burial site.
His fourth killing came when Lucas kidnapped new wife Denise and then murdered a sex worker and tried to pass her off as his wife’s body.
The serial killer is now behind bars after finally being caught smuggling drugs for his daughter Chelsea.
Lindsey Roscoe – Hollyoaks
Lindsey Roscoe is perhaps Hollyoaks most daring serial killer, managing to kill a total of seven people and attempting many more.
Doctor Lindsay killed her victims with a lethal injection of potassium chloride as the soap tried to figure out for months the identity of the so-called ‘Gloved Hand Killer’.
It looked as if she might get away with it as well after she framed former gangster Trevor Royle for her crimes. However, fellow serial killer Silas Blissett had other ideas after discovering a few unsavoury secrets from Lindsey's past. Silas decided that Lindsey couldn't be spared and strangled her to death.
Cameron Murray – Emmerdale
Cameron’s murderous streak started when he started having an affair with Debbie Dingle’s aunt Chas and Carl King found out and threatened to tell. Sick of his threats, Cameron eventually got rid of Carl by bashing him to death with a brick.
Things escalated further when he confessed his guilty secret to friend Alex Moss, who soon also met his end after Cameron decided it was the only way to keep him quiet.
Seemingly terrible at keeping secrets by this point, he then confessed to Debbie, but was overheard by Gennie Sharma, which resulted in a dramatic car chase which saw Gennie meet her end.
Cameron finally met his own end, however, during a dramatic week during which he shot Alicia, then trapped Debbie and Chas in the flooded pub cellar, only to end up electrocuting himself on a wet light bulb.
