Who is Chayce Beckham and where is he now?

A CALIFORNIA native, Chayce Beckham, won season 19 of American Idol in May of 2021.

Who is Chayce Beckham?

Born in Victorville, California; Chayce Beckham graduated from Whitcomb High School in 2014.

He bounced between Carmel Elementary, Vanguard Preparatory, and Sitting Bull Academy before briefly attending Glendora High School.

Beckham's mother is Windie Petersen, a salesperson at Agio Real Estate.

According to the Victorville Daily Press, Beckham has four sisters.

The musician spoke at length about his family on American Idol, confessing that his mother and stepfather were the ones who pushed him to audition for the competition.

Where is he now?

Following his tenure on American Idol, Chayce Beckham moved to Nashville, Tennessee to further pursue his music career.

On Monday, November 29, 2021, Beckham released a duet with award-winning singer and songwriter, Lindsay Ell.

The song – Can't Do Without Me – was produced by Ross Copperman.

"Working with Lindsay on this song was a blast," Beckham said at the time.

"Being in the studio with such a talented artist really took this song to another level for me."

When was Chayce Beckham on American Idol?

At the age of 24, Chayce Beckham auditioned for the nineteenth season of American Idol in Los Angeles.

He went from Hollywood to the Top Five, snagging the winning title on May 23, 2021.

Prior to his time on the show, Beckham worked as a heavy machinery operator and performed in a reggae band known as Sinking Sailors.

Two weeks before his audition, Beckham was involved in a near-fatal car accident.

He quickly became a fan favorite after revealing the hardships he endured before entering the competition.

During his audition, he said: "I've gone through a lot of ups and downs.

"It's been quite the roller coaster. My whole life kind of flipped upside down and I moved back home with my parents."

He later elaborated in an interview with The San Bernardino Sun: "I was all, like, down and out. I had gotten in my car wreck, my DUI, and whatnot."

In an emotional moment during the American Idol final, judge Katy Perry told Beckham: "Sometimes God has to turn up the volume on your life to see if you're listening.

"You're listening. Keep listening."

She continued: "Your world is about to change."

What songs did he perform on American Idol?

Chayce Beckham auditioned for American Idol with What Brings Life Also Kills by Kolton Moore & The Clever Few.

His Hollywood rounds consisted of Hard Times by Tyler Childers and July by Noah Cyrus.

Beckham then sang You Should Probably Leave by Chris Stapleton, which earned him a place in the semi-finals.

The next episode saw the then-24-year-old sing Afterglow by Ed Sheeran and Drive by Incubus.

He later impressed the judges with renditions of Waiting in Vain by Bob Marley and the Wailers, (Everything I Do) I Do It For You by Bryan Adams, Baby Mine by Betty Noyes, and Magic by Coldplay.

On the Mother's Day (2021) episode of the competition, Beckham performed an original song dedicated to his mother.

When he eventually reached the final four, he sang Colder Weather by the Zac Brown Band.

He also sang his original song entitled 23, which hit number one on the iTunes country and all-genres charts in the week before the final.

Beckham and fellow contestant Casey Bishop sang Break My Heart Again by Finneas O'Connell as a duet.

During the finale, he crooned three more tunes: Blackbird by The Beatles, Fire Away by Chris Stapleton, and a reprise of Afterglow.

Is there an American Idol in 2022?

Season 20 of American Idol premiered at 8pm ET on Sunday, February 27, 2022.

Audition episodes will air through March.

Returning as host is Ryan Seacrest; with Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie as judges.

The show is available for viewing via ABC, fuboTV, and Hulu.
