Two people are dead and 10 others are missing after a boat flipped 16 miles off the Floriday’s Key West Thursday, reports said.
Eight other passengers aboard the boat were rescued by the US Coast Guard, The Miami Herald reported.
Two bodies were pulled from the water, according to Petty Officer Jose Hernandez.
The boat overturned at about 1 p.m. and there was no immediate sign of the vessel as of Thursday evening.
It wasn’t clear what type of boat it was or where it had come from.
A search for the missing passengers in surrounding waters was ongoing as of 5 p.m., a spokesman for the Coast Guard told the Herald.
Two Coast Guard cutters and several small boats were part of the search.
