THE BODY of a mum was found at her home a day after police received an anonymous call.

Tatiana Dokhotaru, 34, was found in the unit of an apartment block in Sydney around 8pm on Saturday.

The woman's body was discovered after police received an anonymous call about an alleged domestic dispute on Norfolk St in the city's southwest, the night before.

Cops who arrived at the scene found the woman's body who appeared to have suffered severe head injuries, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

In the apartment, there was Tatiana's partner Danny Zayat, 28 who was arrested and taken for questioning and a four-year-old child.

Police said they received an anonymous phone call from a woman they now believe was the 34-year-old mum, just before midnight on Friday saying she was the victim of assault.

They said they knew the apartment block was located in Liverpool but they failed to locate the apartment, only to be called back the following day to find Tatiana's body.

A critical incident investigation has been opened by NSW Police which would be independently reviewed.

Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said: "[They] were presented with a dual sky tower of 27 levels and more than 300 apartments.
