Boris: 'Rwanda plan is one of the best hopes to stop people smugglers'

‘Get Rwanda done’: Boris Johnson says groundbreaking scheme is our best hope to stop ‘evil’ people traffickers in his new Daily Mail column

Boris Johnson will tonight demand the UK be allowed to ‘get Rwanda done’ as he lashes out at ‘evil’ people smugglers in his latest must-read column for the Daily Mail.

The former prime minister, who ushered in the groundbreaking scheme more than a year ago, branded it ‘one of the best hopes we still have to stop this vile trade’.

In his exclusive report he will argue just ‘a small change in the law’ is required to start flights to East Africa designed to deter people from making the high-risk journey across the English Channel and put and end to traffickers taking ‘huge sums of money’.

It comes as Downing Street prepares for another legal fight in the Supreme Court amid efforts by lefty lawyers to ground the scheme permanently.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak suffered a huge blow to his ‘stop the boats’ pledge yesterday when Court of Appeal judges ruled the deportation deal with the African country was unlawful.

Watch out for Boris Johnson’s column on Mail Online later today and in Saturday’s Daily Mail.
