A BRITISH woman has died three days after liposuction surgery at a private clinic in Turkey, reports suggest.
Diarra Akua Eunice Brown, from Wolverhampton, fell ill after receiving follow up treatment to the procedure on October 22.
The operation, which took place in the suburb of Bahcelievler, Istanbul, was initially deemed a success – as the 28-year-old returned to the clinic three days later for routine checks.
But, the British woman health quickly deteriorated while the plastic surgeon was changing her dressing and died within hours, according to the news site Sabah.
The surgeon, who was only identified as S.G.B, has since been arrested and a criminal investigation is underway.
S.G.B was questioned by police and told them that Brown had fallen ill “suddenly,” and had been discharged the next day.
He reported that she had not suffered any previous ill affects after the operation and had no idea what had caused her sudden illness.
A post-mortem examination, which could shed light on the Brit’s death, has not yet been made public.
Meanwhile, Brown's body has been returned to the UK for burial.
Social media posts from family and friends paid tribute to her, describing her as a 'beautiful soul' and a 'close friend'.
'This must be a dream,' one post said. “Still can’t come to terms with this yet.”
While another added: “I miss you angel. I'm devastated you were taken away way before your time.”
