British Airways passengers stranded around the world after ‘technical issues’ threw UK air traffic control into chaos today have said the airline’s website is ‘unavailable’ as they desperately try to rebook cancelled flights.
Travellers have said they fear being stuck abroad for days, with many claiming that BA flights are booked up for the next week and calling on the carrier to cover them flying with other airlines.
Frustrated customers have been sharing their woes online, with scores saying they are running into technical difficulties and are unable to find BA representatives to speak to in person.
One customer said: ‘@British_Airways how are we supposed to book a new flight when your websites down??? No one here from BA either. It’s chaos’.
Another person who was trying to rebook their cancelled flight fumed that they have had ‘no answer from BA numbers, app not working and manage my booking not working’.

One seething user wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘Is there any major company app/website worse than British Airways?!’
As well as issues accessing BA online or via the app, customers looking for help have been complaining online about a lack of manpower at airports across Europe.
One woman said: ‘I don’t understand how you have no staff at Berlin Airport and your website isn’t working’.
One frequent traveller lamented that she was surprised about the lack of support she received from BA.
Journalist Aludena de Cabo wrote on X: ‘stranded at Munich airport with no representative available to offer advice, website crashed, and phone line saying too busy to take my call – even a minimal attempt to assist would be appreciated.
‘I can expect this from other airlines but not from BA.’
But BA insisted in a statement tonight that ba.com is continuing to operate as normal.
But, it said, ‘due to high volumes of activity following today’s NATS Air Traffic Control issue, it may have taken a moment or two longer for some customers to access the site.’
Despite their reassurances, many online were not convinced, claiming the Manage My Booking section of the site has been ‘crashing’ as it experiences increased demand.
‘Manage my booking is crashing!!! You select flight then page crashes. After what feels like a million attempts you get back into your “manage my account” then the things you selected are gone!!’ one woman said.
She went on: ‘If I cancel m and get a refund will BA reimburse money already spent i.e hotel/food?’
Many others worried about whether their costs will be covered as flights continued to be disrupted and travellers were forced to check into hotels this evening.
BA said in a statement on today’s disruption: ‘Like all airlines using UK airspace, our flights have been severely disrupted as a result of a major issue experienced by NATS Air Traffic Control earlier today.
‘While NATS has now resolved the issue, it has created significant and unavoidable delays and cancellations.
‘We’re working as hard as possible to get customers whose flights have been affected on their way again and have apologised for the huge inconvenience caused.’
