Briton recalls horrific moment he discovered his 78-year-old mother was kidnapped from Israeli retirement home by Hamas gunmen
A Briton has told of the horrific moment he discovered his 78-year-old mother had been kidnapped from a retirement home in southern Israel by Hamas gunmen who left nothing behind of her but bloodstains on the walls where she was living.
Noam Sagi, 53, said he woke on Saturday morning to frantic phone calls from relatives in Israel worried for the safety of his mother, Ada Sagi.
Ada, whose parents survived the Holocaust, was among 90 residents of the Nir-Oz Kibbutz who were shot, injured and abducted during a terrifying raid on the settlement close to the Gaza Strip on Saturday morning.
Speaking to MailOnline, Noam told of his fears, saying: ‘My aunt was in touch with my mum at 9.20am. She said she had heard a lot of noise outside and that she was going to the safe room.
‘Then I saw on the internet footage of a Palestinian reporter doing a broadcast from her front lawn in the Nir-Oz Kibbutz. At 4pm we heard from the army that my mum was nowhere to seen.

‘There were blood stains in the house, and she was not in safe room. Now she is not on the dead list, not on the injured list and not on the rescue list.’
Mr Sagi, a physiotherapist, from Hampstead, north London, was born on a kibbutz in Israel and moved to Lindon 23 years ago.
His mother, Ada, a widow, was born in Tel Aviv where her parents moved after the war – but moved to a Kibbutz as a young child.
Mr Sagi went on: ‘I believe my mother has been kidnapped and is being held hostage in the Gaza Strip.’
‘We are talking about a massacre and the kidnap of vulnerable people. She lived on her own. Her husband passed away last summer.
‘The terrorists went into a care home and stole them out of their beds – cancer patients, people with dementia.

‘They gassed them, they butchered them, they looted them, and they took them with them.
‘The first priority must be to get the hostages out – the old, the young, and the sick, and get them medical attention, without negotiation.
‘I call on every Arab leader around the world to intervene.’
‘I call on them to intervene. This is against all rules of war or conflict. This cannot be allowed to happen.’
