Darts fans meet up in London's Ally Pally

One-hundred-and-eighty PINTS! Darts fans dress as Batman and Robin, leprechauns and Mario Brothers to enjoy sport’s annual shindig at Ally Pally (and even one of the players dresses up as The Grinch)

  • It’s Day 2 of the PDC’s World Darts Championship in Ally Pally, north London
  • Fans braved rail strikes and sub zero temperatures to make their pilgrimage
  • Many attended the event in fancy dress, including Batman and Robin

Hundreds of sports fans donned their fancy dress for their annual pilgrimage to London’s Alexandra Palace for the 2023 PDC World Darts Championship.

While many revellers are heading to their Christmas parties, groups of friends braved the sub-zero temperatures, donning spandex and other man-made fibres to watch the sporting titans do battle at the oche.

The world’s greatest players will face each other over the next fortnight, but for many of those attending, the sporting contest is a secondary consideration in comparison to the camaraderie of appearing in public as a super hero.

Fans walked up the hill to the venue, having made it to north London despite the rail strikes and weather delays afflicting the nation.

Anyone looking for a late ticket for the event is likely to be disappointed as the tournament has been sold out for weeks.
