A dodgy dog walker has been caught on CCTV footage pretending to pick up his dog’s poo from a resident’s front lawn.
A furious homeowner at Kareela in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire released the video of the man leaving the dog’s excrement on their front lawn after pretending to pick it up with a plastic bag.
The footage shows the man walking the dog on a lead through a quiet cul-de-sac before stopping so the animal can answer the call of nature.
The man is seen to quickly glance around the street looking for witnesses before he pulls out a plastic poo bag from his pocket.
He then seems to struggle with opening the bag while his dog, done with its business, circles the man ready to continue its walk.
Shockingly, the man then squats down and seemingly pretends to pick up the dog poo from the lawn, never touching the pile.
He then turns around and pretends to pick up another imaginary pile from the path.

Believing he’d gotten away with the faux poo collection, the man even puts the unused doggy bag back in his pocket.
Under New South Wales’ Companion Animals Act 1998, those responsible for a dog must pick up and dispose of their pooch’s excrement.
The offence carries a minimum $275 fine up to a maximum of $880, depending on the council area.
The act only makes an exception for the owners of assistance animals such as guide dogs.
