Gareth Barlow's hilarious blunder while introducing nightly programme

‘I’m watching the news? YOU’RE watching the news!’ BBC presenter Gareth Barlow’s hilarious blunder while introducing nightly programme

  • Gareth was presenting a nightly bulletin yesterday on the BBC News channel
  • It seemed as though nerves got the better of him and mixed up his words

BBC presenter Gareth Barlow made a hilarious blunder after he got his words mixed up when introducing a nightly programme.

The broadcaster was presenting a nightly bulletin yesterday on the BBC News channel when it seemed as though nerves got the better of him.

He introduced the show: ‘I’m watching the BBC news’ and then quickly corrected himself after realising his mistake ‘I’m Gareth Barlow. You’re watching BBC News.’

Gareth’s fumble left viewers in hysterics and he too found the funny side after sharing the clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, captioned: ‘Can someone please remind me who’s watching the news?’.

His hilarious mistake quickly became viral with BBC colleague Greg James even poking fun at the presenter on his BBC Radio 1 breakfast show this morning.

Greg told listeners tuning in this morning: ‘My favorite thing has happened. I love this. It’s when people either say thank you to themselves or get muddled up when introducing themselves.

‘The news is often very serious and very professional but once in a while there is an amazing blunder and one has happened.

‘BBC News presenter Gareth Barlow, not Gary from Take That, Gareth Barlow on BBC News, got a little bit confused while saying hello to us all.’

He then played the hilarious clip to his listeners adding: ‘So good. This is my favourite thing. I love it so much.’

Gareth later thanked Greg for the shoutout, saying: ‘I’ve spent the morning practicing saying my name ready for my radio show this afternoon. Wish me luck.’
