A two-year-old girl who plummeted 40 feet from a four-storey block of flats is fighting for her life in hospital.
The toddler fell from the top floor window of the block of flats in Barrhead, near Glasgow, at around 8.25pm on September 2.
Emergency rescue teams rushed to the scene within a few minutes and the unconscious child, who has not been named, was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
Today, Police Scotland’s Public Protection Unit confirmed an investigation into the incident had been launched by detectives.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: ‘Police received report of a two-year-old girl who was injured after falling from the window of a flat on Craighead Way in Barrhead around 8.25pm on Thursday, 3 September.
‘Emergency services attended and she was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, where her condition is described as stable.
‘Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident.’
Following the incident, one neighbour said locals had been told the young girl fell out of a top floor window but little else.
One local told the Barrhead News: ‘We have been told that a young girl fell out of a top-floor window but little else.

‘The emergency services were on the scene quickly and the police have been back a few times since.
‘I don’t think many people realised what was going on at the time.’
The child’s parents, who reportedly moved into the flats last November, are thought to be keeping a bedside vigil at the hospital, the Barrhead News reports.
The infant’s injuries have not yet been disclosed by the police.
