The hero cop killed who was one of 10 people killed by a mass shooter at a Boulder, Colorado, supermarket has been identified as Officer Eric Talley.

Talley, who served in the department since 2010, was one of the first officers to respond to the shooting at a Kings Scoopers store in the city, Police Chief Maris Herold said at a Monday night press briefing.

“And I have to tell you, the heroic action of this officer, when he responded to the scene,” Herold, at times choking up, said at the briefing.

“Officer Talley responded to the scene, was the first on the scene, and he was fatally shot,” the chief said.

The slain officer served in “numerous roles” after he joined the department, Herold said.

After his death was announced, a police procession was held in honor of Talley, with throngs of officers lining the street in salute, Denver7 News reported.

The suspect in Monday’s rampage was taken into custody. None of the other nine victims were immediately identified.

“My heart goes out to the victims of this incident. And I’m grateful for the police officers that responded,” Herold said.

“And I am so sorry about the loss of Officer Talley.”
