Horror Sacramento shooting saw girl yell 'they killed my sister and person covered in BLOOD' as 6 killed, say witnesses

THE horrific Sacramento shooting saw a girl yell "they killed my sister and a person is covered in BLOOD" as 6 people were killed, witnesses revealed.

Sunday's mass shooting in downtown Sacramento, California, left six people dead and 12 more injured, and one person arrested as a "related suspect" as authorities continue to search for multiple suspects.

A community activist and witness of the shooting aftermath, Berry Accius, told The Associated Press what he saw when he arrived on the scene.

He recounted the first thing he saw as victims, further explaining: "I saw a young girl with a whole bunch of blood in her body" and "a girl taking off glass from her."

Accius also said he witnessed a young girl screaming and saying: "They killed my sister."

Additionally, he said he saw a mother "running up" to the scene asking: "Where’s my son, has my son been shot?"

Another witness, Kelsey Schar, told the AP she heard gunshots and saw flashes in the dark as she was in the Citizen Hotel.

Schar said she "saw a guy running and just shooting" when she walked to the window at the hotel she was staying at.

Madalyn Woodard, Schar's friend, also recounted seeing people scatter in the street as the shooting took place.

Woodard told the AP she saw a girl lying on the ground, appearing to have been struck by gunfire in the arm.

Footage of the fatal shooting, which took place near the city's entertainment hub, was shared on social media showing what seemed to be an altercation before shots were fired.

Investigators are unsure whether that fight had anything to do with the shooting, police spokesperson Sgt Zach Eaton said.

The Sacramento Police Department shared their gratefulness to the community for the "overwhelming assistance that has been provided" as more than 100 videos and pictures have been submitted through the PD's community evidence portal.

"We continue to encourage the community to use the community evidence portal to directly provide the department with photos and videos," SPD said.

Pop stars and ex-Disney duo Aly & AJ revealed on Sunday that they were "caught in the crossfire" of the shooting while exiting a venue they had just performed at, but sheltered in place on their tour bus until the coast was clear.

“Distraught by the mass shooting last night outside the venue in Sacramento,” the sisters told Twitter on Sunday.

“We have to do something about gun violence in this country.”

Victims identified

By Monday morning, the six Sacramento shooting victims – ranging between the ages of 21 and 57 – were identified by the coroner’s office.

The six victims have been ID'd as 21-year-old Johntaya Alexander, 57-year-old Melinda Davis, 38-year-old Sergio Harris, 32-year-old Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 21-year-old Yamile Martinez-Andrade, and 29-year-old Devazia Turner, NBC-affiliate KCRA News 3 reported.

Police Chief Kathy Lester told KCRA on Monday afternoon that over 100 bullet casings were recovered at the scene of the shooting.

Investigators also determined that at least three buildings and three vehicles were struck by gunfire.

Emotional family tributes

Following her son Joshua's death, Sherilyn Hoye, told KCRA: "I never wanted kids and I said if I was to have a kid, I just wanted a boy and I was blessed with a boy."

Johntaya's heartbroken dad John Alexander, said his "baby was just starting life" when he opened up to the news outlet about his daughter.

He said his daughter was the youngest of four siblings, dreamed of becoming a social worker and recently started living on her own.

"She wasn't able to run too far before she just went down," Johntaya's dad said, explaining that his daughter was headed to pick up her sister downtown when she was shot.

Sergio's mom Pamela Harris remembered the dad-of-three as a "very vivacious young man" who was "fun to be around, liked to party, smiling all the time."

And his wife Leticia wants "closure for her children" by learning more about the shooting.

'Related suspect'

Meanwhile, 26-year-old Dandrae Martin has been arrested as a “related suspect” in connection with the Sacramento shooting.

Martin was taken into custody and booked following the tragic shooting in downtown Sacramento, Lester told KCRA on Monday afternoon.

The rapper was booked on charges of assault with a firearm and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, Lester said at the time. An initial news release by the Sacramento PD, listed Martin's name as Dandre.

“Right now that’s really all we’re able to share about him," she said.
