A MUM has told how her son was stabbed to death just three minutes from her home when he popped to their local corner shop.
On September 24 2017, Jude Gayle was cooking his signature sardines dish for Sunday dinner at his mum's when he realised they'd run out of sauce.
His two-year-old daughter Serenity loved to have ketchup with her fish, so doting dad Jude popped to the local shop just a three-minute walk away in West Norwood, London
There, he was pictured on CCTV buying the ketchup and a lollipop for his little girl.
But on the way back to his mum's, Jude was attacked and stabbed repeatedly as he walked through an alleyway.
He was pronounced dead in the street at 6.42pm around an hour after the stabbing with the pot of food he'd been cooking still boiling on the stove.

To date no one has been prosecuted for his murder after three men suspected of killing him were acquitted in court.
Now his mum, Pettrige Roach, has told of her pain the day he died.
She told The Sun: “The day he died came to my house to cook for the family, like he did every Sunday.
“We had a lovely chat and then he said I’m going down to start cooking.
“I was up in bed and I could smell the food, I could hear his music.
“Then out of nowhere, I heard the doorbell ring. I waited to hear Jude answer the door but then I heard someone banging on the door.
“I was thinking why has he not answered the door. The banging didn't stop, so I pulled myself over my bed and opened my window.
“Then I saw a woman I had never seen before and she said: ‘You need to come. Your son’s been stabbed.’”
'JUDE'S BEEN STABBED'
Pettrige had no idea that her son had innocently popped out to the shop and was attacked on his way home.
She continued: “I started screaming ‘Jude's been stabbed’. I said ‘call the police’. She said ‘they’ve already been called’.
“I wasn’t dressed to leave the house. I couldn't think. I was panicking. I ended up going down in my house coat and crawled down the stairs.
“I went to the door and I was blocked in. My neighbours were telling me ‘Don’t come out. You don’t want to see him like this'.
“I felt so helpless. I said please let me out, just let me sit outside on the wall. They said OK and got me my stroller and I went out and sat on the wall watching from afar.
“I said please let me see him before he’s taken to the hospital before he's in the ambulance and they said no.
“That was the point where I felt like a tornado ripped through me and came out of my womb and into the sky. That's when I knew Jude was dead. My body knew straight away.
“I think of him everyday, every minute, every second. Jude is my life and he’s part of me, he’s with me all of the time.”
That was the point where I felt like a tornado ripped through me and came out of my womb and into the sky. That's when I knew Jude was dead.
Now, Pettrige is launching a fresh appeal for information ahead of the five-year anniversary of his death this September.
She said: “What's happened has happened – To me, it's just what needs to be done now.
“I want to see the perpetrators held accountable for what they did. That’s what I’d like to see happen.
“The fact that they got away with it. I feel like this wasn’t their first – or last – time they did something like this.
“And they’re out there, walking around, the people who murdered my Jude. They killed him just seconds away from my home.
“I just want justice and I just want any witnesses to come forward and tell us what happened.
“I know for a fact people saw what happened and have seen the evidence – but I also know that they’re afraid to come forward.”
Anyone with information about Jude’s death can contact the incident room on 0208 721 4961, via the police non-emergency number 101 or anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
