Urgent warning after criminal, 20, is accidentally released from HMP Thameside as cops warn public 'do not approach him' | The Sun

COPS have issued an urgent warning telling the public not to approach a criminal who was accidentally released from jail.

A desperate hunt has been launched to find Rayon Newby, 20, who was released "in error" from HMP Thameside.

Newby was serving a sentence for assault, harassment and burglary when he was let out on Friday, March 17.

He is from East London and has connections to the Tower Hamlets and Ilford areas.

The violent fugitive was described as a black man of around 5ft 10in tall, of heavy build with a pierced left ear and London accent.

Members of the public have been warned not to approach him if he is spotted and to report any sightings to the police immediately.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "The public are asked not to approach Newby.

"Anyone who sees him, or knows where he is should call 101."

Witnesses are encouraged to contact the force on 101, quoting reference CAD 3195/30Mar.

Those who wish to make an anonymous report can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
