The Fualaau girls were raised by Vili’s mom Soona while Mary Kay served out a seven year sentence after violating the plea deal agreement

It’s been a rough road for the father of three and soon-to-be grandpa.

He began a relationship in 1996 with his 34-year-old sixth grade teacher Mary Kay Letourneau at age 12. She was already a married mother of four.

The illicit affair was soon leaked to law enforcement by a relative of her husband Steve Letourneau, and became a national scandal.

Mary Kay, who passed away from stage four colon cancer at the age of 58 in July 2020, was initially given a slap on the wrist with a six-month prison term after pleading guilty to two counts second degree child rape.

One of the conditions of her agreement was that she have no contact with the young teenager, a condition she could and would not adhere to.

In 1998 at the age of 14, Vili became a father to Audrey. Fourteen months later Georgia was born.

Vili and Mary Kay remained steadfastly defiant of their love and relationship. They were married in 2005, shortly after Mary Kay’s release from prison, and remained together until he filed for legal separation in 2017
