LEON HARRIS is an American journalist and broadcaster, known for his work with NBC News.

Who is NBC News anchor Leon Harris?
Born on April 20, 1961, Leon Harris is an Akron, Ohio native.
He has worked as a broadcaster for NBC since April of 2017, where he co-anchors alongside Pat Lawson-Muse on News 4 at 4.
Prior to his gig at NBC, Harris worked with both CNN and ABC affiliate, WJLA-TV.
During the 1980s, Harris joined the CNN headquarters in Atlanta as an unpaid intern, moving up to an entry-level video journalist following his graduation from college.
He later became the assistant director of the satellite department, working as an operator and coordinator.
In 1991, Harris auditioned for a position as a full-time anchor, and he has gone on to win several Emmy Awards for his work.
He moved on to Washington, DC-based WJLA-TV in 2003, anchoring the station's 5pm and 11pm newscasts.
Harris remained in this position until 2016.

What happened to Leon Harris?
On Saturday, January 29, 2022, Harris was driving in Montgomery County, Maryland, when he allegedly crashed into another car.
According to police, Harris was then charged with driving under the influence.
As the investigation continues, Harris will reportedly not appear on-air with NBC.
It is unclear at the time if the news anchor was injured during the crash, or if there were any victims.
Is Leon Harris married?
After graduating from Buchtel High School in 1979, Harris went on to Ohio University with the help of a National Merit Scholarship.
While there, he met his wife, Dawn Lomax.
After graduating cum laude with a Bachelor's in Communications, Harris went on to receive an honorary Doctorate from the school in 1999.
Dawn and Harris live together in Maryland, where she is a nurse at a local hospital.
The couple have two children together: Darren and Lauren.
Darren is a Seattle local who graduated from Bucknell University, while Lauren is an early childhood teacher based out of Atlanta.
