Bridgerton’s Nicola Coughlan kicks off heels and goes barefoot leaving BAFTAs afterparty

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan appeared to have danced a little too hard at the BAFTA afterparty on Sunday night after she was pictured leaving the event barefoot.

The 35 year old was seen exiting the party held at The Chiltern Firehouse in London around 4am with her white strappy heels in hand as she made her way to a black taxi cab outside.

Nicola looked incredible on the night as she wore a silver embellished dress with a white lace chest panel and billowing semi-sheer sleeves with side slits at the hem.

The Irish actress – who plays Penelope Featherington in the hit Netlfix series – accessorised with a dazzling circular purse and a pair of diamond earrings at the BAFTA Awards held at the Royal Albert Hall earlier that evening.

This was the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic that stars were able to attend the ceremony in person after it took place on Zoom last year.

Before heading off to the event, Nicola had shared snaps of her look with her 1.3 million followers, capturing her beauty and styling team in one black and white shot getting her red carpet ready.

In one clip posted on Instagram Stories, the star showed off her sparkling manicure applied to match the skirt of her dress whilst sitting in a car on her way to the ceremony as she sported a Tiffany diamond ring also.

Nicola’s hairstylist for the BAFTAs, Leigh Keates, also posted a couple of photos of the actress as she was about to head off to the awards show, appearing stunning with her blond bob slicked neatly behind her ears.

The Derry Girls star’s make-up appeared flawless as she flaunted a pink smokey eye, rosy cheeks and bold red lipstick.

It comes after the star recently spoke of her sudden rise to fame following the global Netflix hit Bridgerton and how strange she’s found it.

“Being famous is like being a dog on the Tube. It’s exactly the same energy. When you get on, everyone looks at you,” the star told Elle UK.

"Some people are so smiley, while some are afraid of you and don’t want to go near. Some people touch you without asking. I can still do the things I want to do, obviously, but it is different.

"I went to the pub with my friend a while back and it was like being an animal at the zoo. People just watching and looking.

"I remember one time I was taking my Invisalign out, and this person was staring me right in the eyes, which was quite weird. But, honestly, most people are so, so lovely."

Bridgerton quickly became one of the most popular shows on Netflix after being released during lockdown at the end of 2020, catapulting the cast to instant fame around the world.

Following over a year-long wait for the second series, fans will soon be able to enjoy new episodes as Bridgerton makes it return later this month on 25 March.
