GMB’s Susanna Reid asks if Love Island has turned into ‘Gemma Owen Island’

Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid has taken a slight dig at Michael Owen's daughter, Gemma, who is currently starring on this year's series of Love Island.

The stunning 19 year old daughter of the former Liverpool and England football hero has dominated much of the show's storylines since entering the famous Mallorcan villa just a week ago.

And on this morning's GMB, self-confessed Love Island fan Susanna, 51, questioned whether the show was actually 'Gemma Island'.

She was joined by GMB Entertainment Editor Richard Arnold, 52, who was giving her an update on all things Love Island.

Richard reported that yet another of Gemma's exes is due to enter the villa, following the arrival of her former boyfriend, English rugby player, Jacques O'Neill, into the villa.

Richard said: "It was reported over the weekend that another one of Gemma's exes, Wrexham footballer Cameron Green, is waiting to appear.

"A source said he [dad Michael] really liked him and he even appeared in a social media post shared by Michael. But the question on everyone's lips is, 'When will the Islanders find out that Michael Owen is actually her dad?! When will Jacques let it slip? The action continues tonight."

At the news, Susanna replied: "Is it Love Island or Gemma Owen Island?", to which Richard replied: "I think it's Gemma Owen Island,"

Susanna then said: "Poor Gemma, she's at the heart of every single story so far."

It has certainly been a tumultuous week for GB Dressage Rider Gemma, who's had the most couple changes of anyone in the villa so far.

Initially, she was paired with 22 year old Welsh student, Liam Llewellyn, who the public chose for her, in a new shake-up by the popular matchmaking show.

The arrival of 27 year old Davide Sanclimenti proved bad for Liam, as Gemma's head was swiftly turned, and Davide chose to partner with Gemma after being given 24 hours to choose a girl to couple up with.

This meant that Liam was left single and vulnerable, and on Friday night's show, he announced that he was leaving the villa after just four days, reasoning: "I haven't really been feeling like I have been giving 100 percent Liam. I know what 100 percent Liam looks like and I have miles off that."

Gemma has now turned her affections to 23 year old fishmonger Luca Bish, who chose her in the dramatic recoupling on Friday night.

She was shocked when her ex-boyfriend of eight months, Jaques, walked into the villa on Sunday night's episode, saying: "Oh my god, that's my ex-boyfriend".

Jaques' arrival into the villa certainly ruffled Luca's feathers, with him expressing annoyance that he was in there.
