Hollyoaks star Jessica Ellis has revealed she is engaged to boyfriend Michael Shaw and shared snaps of her gorgeous ring on Instagram.
The actress, who played Tegan Lomax in the Channel 4 soap, revealed the news over the weekend. Posting pictures of herself sporting a brand new ring on her finger, as she beams next to her partner Michael.
Alongside the snaps, Jessica wrote: “Well yesterday was a bit of alright thanks to my fiance @mtshaw91” with a string of emojis.
The final image she posted on Instagram is a gorgeous close-up of the eternity style engagement ring. Featuring delicate details, the unusual ring has an array of different coloured stones. Jessica luckily had her nails already done for the occasion, as she sported bright multicoloured nails featuring smiley faces.
Another photo showed the couple smiling with glasses of champagne, as they celebrated with a view of the London skyline behind them.
Jessica’s Hollyoaks costars rushed to congratulate the couple. "Congratulations your ring is beautiful," wrote Jennifer Metcalfe, who plays Mercedes McQueen.
“Congratulations to you both darling! What a beautiful ring. Proper bit of you!!” said Ruby Button actress Anna Shaffer.
Jessica, 34, left the soap back in 2018 after her character, Tegan Lomax, died. At the time, the star said she had to keep her shock exit a secret for sixth months before her last episode aired.
In her final scenes, Tegan was crushed by a falling tree. Speaking to The Sun at the time, Jessica said: “I'm so sad. It was really sad because we're actually really good friends and they have become my family.
"I've known about six months. I had to keep it a secret but obviously my family knew but… I think Kieron's still in denial.
"A lot of it was genuine tears. It was heartbreaking.
"My mum and dad came in to watch filming and I didn't know it was that day, it was just because I had a full day filming and they spent the entire day watching me die."
She added: "I don't really like change. I like routine and being in a place and I'm going to miss that."
There’s been a lot of love in the air recently, with another former Hollyoaks actress also starting a new relationship.
Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has revealed she is coupled up again, after her split from actor Owen Warner in 2019.
The soap star, 27, who left the show after her break-up from Owen, announced her happy news on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing a cosy selfie with Samuel Jonathan Tasker.
The Liverpudlian snuggled up to her sweetheart to capture the moment as she fondly held her new man’s face, declaring him her “love.”
