Naga Munchetty warns BBC co-star she ‘might make him uncomfortable’ with intimate story

Naga Munchetty apologises for radio silence during interview

Naga Munchetty, 45, gave her BBC Radio 5 Live listeners a more personal insight into her private life, but one that she believed may make her male colleague feel “uncomfortable”. She and Nicky Campbell were discussing lost items and the BBC Breakfast presenter admitted live on-air that she had lost her favourite bra, a topic of conversation she wondered would spark negative responses from listeners.

This might make you a bit uncomfortable…

“I don’t know how this is going to be picked up,” she sighed, “But you know you have certain things that you know you have and you just can’t find them?”

“So I have lots of things in twos because if they work and I can afford it, I’ll buy things in twos.”

Nicky agreed that it was a smart way to shop as the breakfast show presenter explained her predicament with her bra.

Naga added that because of her BBC Breakfast role, she has to be “very mindful” of the type of things she wears on-air to avoid criticism.

“This might make you a bit uncomfortable…” she said, as Nicky wondered where the conversation was going.

“This is something men don’t have to worry about but women do – and we think about these things!” she said.

“I have this great bra, which is seamless and I have two of them because they’re brilliant for telly because no lumps and bumps show through.

“But I can’t find the other one, I know it’s somewhere.”

Naga revealed one of her jobs this coming weekend was to hunt down the misplaced undergarment by emptying all her draws until she finds it and the whole debacle seemed to make her very frustrated.

“I’ve lost it, I haven’t had it for about six months. It’s driving me nuts,” she admitted through gritted teeth.

“Can you not just buy another one?” Nicky suggested before he was shut down immediately by the host.

“No because it’s there, I’m not going to waste money buying another one!” she snapped.

“That’s not the answer, you find the said offending item!”

Nicky laughed as she replied: “This is a lovely insight into your life,” before asking how she came about making the decision to buy double of everything.

Naga smiled as she nodded: “I just stick to what I know. When the other one was past its best.

“Anyway, I thought you’d like to know that!” she laughed before attempting to move onto the 11 o’clock news bulletin.

But before they could, Nicky quickly warned: “I think we will get some reaction on the texts!”

“Oh dear…” Naga sighed.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One and Naga’s Radio 5 Live slot begins at 10am.
