Kate Ferdinand thanks fans for support after heartbreaking miscarriage with Rio

Kate Ferdinand has returned to social media in the wake of her devastating miscarriage, thanking fans for their support.

The former Towie star revealed the heartbreaking loss of her second unborn child with husband Rio Ferdinand last week, posting a black and white picture of her legs lying on a hospital bed to Instagram.

Alongside the upload, the 31-year-old explained: ‘The last time I was in this hospital I was having Cree, but this time it was because our baby had no heartbeat in our 12 week scan and I had to have surgery.

‘We were so excited & planning a space for our new baby in our family, we just couldn’t wait to share our news with you all, but unfortunately sometimes life just doesn’t go as we plan.’

At the time she also said that she was struggling to ‘find the words’ as she called herself ‘absolutely devastated and heartbroken’.

On Monday afternoon, she posted a picture of herself and her 11-year-old stepdaughter Tia’s wrists, wearing matching beaded friendship bracelets.

‘I’ve been taking some time off my phone to be with my family but have just caught up on your messages,’ she wrote. ‘Thank you so much for all your love and well wishes.’

Her former co-stars Chloe Lewis, Georgia Kousoulou and Sam Faiers were some of the first to share their sympathy and support in the comments of her original post, with Sam writing: ‘This is heartbreaking. Sending you lots of love and strength x x.’

Kate, who had not yet announced her pregnancy, shares 19-month-old son Cree with former England player Rio, 43, who she married in 2019.

The star was praised for her honesty following her son’s birth, as she shared her struggled with parenting a new baby as well as posting an unedited post-partum picture.

She is also stepmother to his children Lorenz, 15, Tate, 14 and Tia from his first marriage to Rebecca Ellison.

She died in 21015 at the age of 34 after battling breast cancer.

The family were also celebrating Tate’s birthday on Monday, with Kate later sharing a picture of a birthday cookie emblazoned with a happy birthday message for the teen.

‘Love you darling,’ she added.
